Garland Farm will be open to visitors this season, with no change to the below schedule.

Due to health protocols, visitors will be limited to 5 at a time in the house and Terrace Garden.  

Group tours will not be available this season.

Visitors are required to wear masks and maintain six feet of distance at all times while on the grounds and in the buildings. Tours of the gardens, grounds, barn and Farrand wing will be self-guided.

Please join us for informal tours of the house, library, and grounds. No reservations are necessary. All are welcome.

FAQ

How long should I allow for a visit?  Allow at least one hour for your visit. Most programs last at least one hour.  Check our program schedule here for a listing of upcoming programs.

Are there tours available?  Yes. You can take a self guided tour of grounds and/or join one of the docents for a guided tour of the house.

Can you accommodate large groups for tours?   yes. Advance notice of one week is appreciated so that sufficient docents are present to conduct a tour. Email us at visit@beatrixfarrandsociety.org or leave a phone message at 207-288-0237.

Is Garland Farm accessible for people with disabilities?  Yes. Please visit our accessibility page here.

Are pets allowed?  Service dogs are allowed on the grounds, in the house and in the barn where educational programs are held.

Garland Farm is located on Route 3 on Mount Desert Island. From the island bridge, go east toward Bar Harbor for approximately 2 miles and turn left on Bay View Drive. Turn left into the parking area in the field and follow footpath to barn.

From downtown Bar Harbor, go north on Route 3 passing Hadley Point Road (about 7 miles). Continue .7 miles, turn right on Bay View Drive, then left into the parking area. Do not park on Bay View Drive.
